7 Reasons to Always Be Honest With Yourself Starting Today

7 Reasons to Always Be Honest With Yourself Starting Today

Do you want the key to a happy life?

The key is this:

You should always be honest to yourself.

Do you want to know why it’s the key to a happy life?

Read on to know why.

You Can Control Your Own Life

7 Reasons to Always Be Honest With Yourself Starting Today

Knowing yourself is the very first step to controlling the circumstances of your life.

Why?

Because you will create a life where you will do what it takes to get what you want.

Have you ever met a person who seems to put their heart into something more than others?

Chances are, this person is following what they want and they are doing everything they need to do in order to get that thing.

As you might have noticed, they achieve extraordinary results because of this massive effort they put in.

Now why is this the case?

Because when you are true to yourself, you plant a vision in your mind that you want to put into reality instead of something other people tell you to do just because it “seems” like the right thing or the conventional thing to do.

In other words, because you are so determined to make it true, you do whatever you need to do in order for it to come true.

And the result of this is you are more authentic and you don’t feel that “fake” feeling inside when you are doing something. You do something because your gut tells you it’s the right thing to do.

Additionally, because many people will sense this authenticity in you, they will begin to trust you more and in turn, they will be more inclined to help you achieve what you want to achieve.

Of course you would still need to ask for help if you need to, but since you are honest, people would want to see you succeed more than any other person.

And because you are getting other people’s help, you are giving yourself even more control since you are leveraging other people’s knowledge to achieve what you want.

And this is really important in achieving your goals.

So don’t miss the boat on that point.

Now here’s the next benefit to being honest with yourself.

You’ll Be Happier

7 Reasons to Always Be Honest With Yourself Starting Today

I encourage you to find out what makes you very excited. If you can’t find anything, I encourage you to reflect on what made you excited as a kid or read this post on how to redirect your sexual energy to what you want to find out what that thing is exactly.

When you did any of the things I suggested, did you find something that would make you feel fulfilled inside?

If you did, this is exactly how you will feel when you do those things in life.

You see, when you live everything that is true to you, you leave life knowing you did everything you wanted to do without feeling any bitterness or “I should’ve done that. Why didn’t I do that?”

You feel gratified inside and you don’t feel any animosity towards yourself.

And if you don’t believe what I’m saying, picture this:

Let’s imagine you were considering two options in life.

One involves you working behind a desk all day for the rest of your life sucking up to someone you don’t like pleasing people you hate versus following your gut and doing everything you need to do to go on awesome adventures with like-minded people and living every moment like it’s the best moment you’ve ever had.

The first path involves you studying something with no real value in the world. You go into debt for a degree that could get you employed, but deep down inside you know it won’t get you to where you want to go.

You graduate with $50,000 in undergraduate debt and you are employed with a $35,000 per year job in a cubicle that you despise and you want to get out of.

You are stuck in the cubicle for 10 years and all of a sudden, you realize “What have I done?”

Oops.

Now let’s look at this scenario:

You decide one day that “You know what? I am going to do everything I can to go on awesome adventures and I am going to get very wealthy in the process.”

So although you can’t do it now given your situation (you have to be real; not just a visionary), you work every moment to make that vision of yours come true.

And you develop the skills you need to develop and you do what you need to do to get that job or build that business of yours (even if it does mean going to school. School isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but you have to do it correctly or it’ll blow up in your face).

And over time as you are pull through that commitment of yours, you realize that you are getting closer and you are getting closer and closer and the next thing you know:

You are going on adventures on a consistent basis.

And you are getting really wealthy in the process.

How would that feel to you if you do that since that’s what your gut told you to do?

It would make you feel very happy, right?

And when you feel happy, this happens:

You Won’t Feel Regret

7 Reasons to Always Be Honest With Yourself Starting Today

Let me tell you something about regret.

It’s the worst feeling in the world.

When you feel regret, you feel like you want to puke.

This is what happens when you follow the cubicle path and it does not end up the way you hoped.

I can give you countless stories of those who did not follow their gut and this happened to them.

This article here does a great job of explaining what happens when you do not follow your gut and what happens when you do follow your gut.

This article here describes a case study of what happens in business when you do not follow your gut.

And this is a message I want to drive home to you:

Your gut is the best boss you will ever have.

Why?

Because it really wants you to live the best life that you can possibly live.

And it will do everything it has to do in order to ensure you live the best life possible.

Other bosses want only what’s right for them and although you will always need to deal with this (no one is without a boss), following your intuition will make things a lot smoother and you will not feel like you tricked yourself into doing something you know you shouldn’t have done.

And when you don’t feel like you’ve tricked yourself, this is what will happen:

You Won’t Feel Stressed

7 Reasons to Always Be Honest With Yourself Starting Today

Let’s face it, you don’t like stress and you’ll do anything to avoid it.

Would you agree with that statement?

However, what is not cool is lying.

When someone lied to you and you found out they were lying to you, would you feel an enormous amount of pressure in your brain combined with intense and infuriating anger?

And when you realized you should’ve done this or that because your gut told you so, would you feel like this?

I bet you would, right?

People who are honest with themselves do not feel stressed. It is the great lie that everyone says that you need to be stressed in order to get what you want.

This comes from those who have not found the secret to becoming more productive in what they are doing.

However, stress can be your gut telling you that things need to change in order to be more satisfied with your life.

It’s this dissatisfaction and uncomfortable truth that starts the process of fixing your surroundings to give yourself the life that you want.

But when you do the things where you are honest with yourself, the stress will gradually go away since you are in control of your surroundings and you run the show as to how the pieces should line up to get what you want.

And this is critical in engineering your own life.

And because of this, you will follow this principle tremendously well:

You’ll Know WHY You Are Doing What You Are Doing

7 Reasons to Always Be Honest With Yourself Starting Today

Here’s the thing when you know why you are doing what you are doing:

You know your purpose.

The thing that wakes you up every day and makes you want to do more.

When you know your purpose, you will naturally figure out everything you need to know and you will piece together all of the answers.

The reason for this is because your intuition MUST be happy in order for you to be fulfilled in life and it will do everything possible to make sure you are happy.

It’s like you are broke and without money and you go into survival mode in order to get the very last dollar you can in order to survive.

You are forced to understand why you are doing what you are doing and more often than not, you get the answers you desire.

Same thing with following your intuition.

Happiness is the key to being fulfilled in life and when you are not happy, it is like being broke on the street and starving to do anything to get food.

That’s when you know how to do things and you can fall back with confidence since you’ve done it over and over again.

And when you get that confidence, this happens:

You’ll Feel Ridiculously Powerful

7 Reasons to Always Be Honest With Yourself Starting Today

You see, your intuition is the gateway to developing the skills you need to get what you want because like I just said, it needs to be happy to be fulfilled.

It can’t be happy and get what it wants without skills.

Skills allow you to be good at something and when you are good at something, you control the environment around you and you can adapt relatively quickly with respect to everything that’s around you.

These skills can be used to deliver value and create products that actually solve people’s problems (or accomplishes a task you want to complete).

When you successfully use the skills you need to master to get what you want, you don’t feel the need to be stressed since you have certainty of the outcome that will come.

I’ll give you an example of this.

Let’s say your gut tells you to become a doctor.

To do this, not only do you need the money to go become one, but you need to develop the correct study skills to ensure that you get at or at the very least super close to a 4.0 GPA to get into medical school.

Now in this case, you are put into the position where you have to develop these skills or you will not get what you want.

This is where developing the skills required for success becomes a necessity rather than a choice.

And as a result, you become confident each time you use these skills since you’ve done them multiple times.

When you do this, every scenario that shows up will seem second nature to you and they won’t have a chance to beat you.

This is when you become unstoppable in the scenario and your gut is satisfied.

And if something comes up unexpected that your gut doesn’t know, it will find a way to get through since it must in order to be fulfilled in the long term.

In short, since it knows it must have something, if you let your gut guide you instead of your brain, you will never have to think about doing anything again. You’ll just do it and you will achieve what you want, regardless of what the goal is.

I promise you that.

And since you have this certainty from within, you will know what will happen as a result and you will have power for the rest of your life.

And when you have the power from within, this will happen:

You’ll Have Fun With Your Life

7 Reasons to Always Be Honest With Yourself Starting Today

When you win, you have fun. It’s that simple.

Have you ever seen winners not have fun?

No. Because it simply doesn’t work that way.

When we accomplish what we want to accomplish, we never feel sorry for ourselves and we never feel any disappointment whatsoever.

And when you follow your intuition, you feel at peace with yourself and with who you are and what you have done to accomplish what you wanted to accomplish.

And you should never feel ashamed of that at all.

And when you do this, you can declare victory with your life and know that you have lived it to the fullest without any reservations at all.

And that is when a true champion is born.

So now that you know why being honest with yourself is important, ask yourself “How honest are you with yourself?”

Once you’ve answered the question, comment below with what you will do to live your life honestly and what steps you will take to get there. I would love to know that.

Until next time,

This is Evan signing off.
