5 Secrets To Being the Best At What You Do

Do you want to know what it takes to become the best at what you do?

Read on to know the 5 strategies you must employ in order to start being the best at what you do!

1. Have a Dominating Mindset

being the best

Let’s face it.

We live in a world where the top 1% own everything.

What should that tell you?

It should tell you that to get everything, you need to be in that top 1% and the best at what you do.

Now what do most people do?

Most people will sit and cry and complain that the top 1% are getting everything and that there is nothing they can do about it.

Of course the top 1% get everything.

Everyone is selfish. They are not evil.

But here’s the question you must ask yourself if you are in this situation:

“How can I get there?”

Notice a difference?

Instead of complaining about circumstances, you find a way to game the system in your favor.

This is the essence of a growth mindset.

You learn what you need to learn to become exactly what you want to be.

Now, why is this section called “have a dominating mindset?”

Let me explain.

You’ve applied for a job before, right?

You know that only 1 person will get selected out of, arguably, hundreds if not thousands of applicants.

Let’s say that you are all broke.

Only 1 person gets to eat the next day.

Do you know who that one person will be?

Exactly.

Now to steer away from an extreme example, let’s see this from a sports perspective.

When you think of basketball, who do you think of?

Only a select few names.

When you think of football, who do you think of?

Only a select few names.

When you think of an Olympian, who do you think of?

Only a select few names.

As you see, the list is small.

But the pool of people who do those things is:

MASSIVE

Do you know the names of those on those MASSIVE lists?

Exactly.

The key is this:

You need to envision what you want to be and be obsessively consumed by that image to the point where you believe in yourself so much that no one will stop you from achieving what you want.

Naturally, you will take action to the point where you study both the successes and the failures in what you want to do so you can achieve the massive success you want and the failures you wish to avoid.

This is really the secret behind all of the greats at what they do.

This is why they are 10 steps ahead of everyone else.

They study and execute the strategies recommended to them like no other.

So this is a starting point to being the best at what you do.

Now, here is something you absolutely must do to get there:

2. Commit to Being the Best at What You Do

Let me ask you a question:

Have you ever heard of an Olympic athlete who wasn’t committed to what they do?

Exactly.

To be the best, you have to commit.

Now it is easier said than done because many people say they commit, but they don’t really commit.

They don’t show up every day, they don’t ask the correct questions and they simply don’t put the effort required to succeed.

And it’s noticeable.

Have you ever been in a class and there’s this one guy who seems to be obsessed with getting the best grades and everyone talks about this guy behind the scenes without him noticing?

That guy in class is truly committed to getting the job done. He shows up, he asks all of the right questions, he goes to office hours to clarify information, he is very disciplined, etc.

Basically, a guy you might see and think “What is he doing that is working? We want some of that!”

When you ask this question in your mind, you immediately stop thinking about everyone else and focus all of your attention on him.

In other words, he is so good you can’t ignore him.

When you have these feelings, this means the person is so committed to what he is doing that he isn’t trying to show off.

He just does what he needs to do and the results do the talking.

And this is the point where you need to get to in order to achieve any goal you desire.

You can only get to this point if you are extremely committed to what you do because there will be times where you’d want to quit and throw in the towel.

You need to know why you want something and that will propel you to achieve your goal and to become the best at what you do.

No one who achieved any kind of success wasn’t committed to what they did and they certainly used that commitment to get through the hard times.

I can name multiple case studies to prove this point to you, but the bottom line is that if you want to be the best at what you do and you want to accomplish any goal you desire, you have to be fully committed to achieving the goal.

Which leads us to the next point, which is:

3. Don’t Settle For Less

gold

This is key.

Many people settle for less than what they want simply because they don’t believe in themselves enough to truly give it their all to succeed at what they want to do.

And it’s a shame considering how many people have extreme amounts of potential in them that they could use if they simply had self-belief.

Have you ever really wanted something that you know you want, but for some reason, you settle on something less desirable?

How did it feel?

Disappointing, right?

Settling is a disservice to yourself.

You sell yourself short this way and you don’t live the life you want to live.

Think about it this way.

Have you ever witnessed someone say they want to be something and they keep talking about it and talking about it, but they haven’t done anything to make it happen?

It annoys you to hear this, doesn’t it?

And doesn’t it feel better, and if not inspires you, to hear that someone achieved something and they only told you about it when they achieved that success?

Doesn’t it make you happier?

The bottom line is that in order to live the best life possible, you need to find out what it is you want and simply do what you need to do to make it happen and don’t quit.

When you do this, you feel more gratified in yourself that you went for it instead of sitting around and dwelling on the past about whether you should’ve done this or you should’ve done that.

That coulda, shoulda, woulda feeling REALLY sucks.

The “I did it” feeling rocks like hell.

So try what you want to do and see where it takes you.

You might be pleasantly surprised by the result 🙂

Now you can’t be all fun and games because you have to do this next thing to really get over what lies ahead and that is:

4. Have Laser Focus on What You Do

arrow

Focus is so underrated when it comes to success.

Many people spend so much time distracted on this and that when it comes time to work on what they need to work on.

No wonder they get underwhelming results.

To prove this point, let me tell you something interesting.

I came across this article about Bill Gates and Warren Buffett and how they met at a dinner.

Both of them seemed to have nothing in common at the time. At first, they weren’t interested in what the other did.

But then here is where it gets interesting.

Bill Gates’ mother asks everyone at the dinner to write down what they felt was the most important trait that contributed to their success.

They both wrote down one word and that one word is:

Focus.

That should tell you something.

2 men who were successful at what they did, in two different lines of work and they both said focus.

What does this mean?

It means that focus is a trait to consider if you want to achieve what you want in life.

There is loads of research that proves this point and you can see this article here for links and explanations to this research if you are interested in learning about this topic further.

Now this is the most important point in this post and that is:

5. Don’t Quit

ad

Quitting is a crime.

Do you want to know why?

Read on to find out.

Quitting is a sign you’ll never succeed since you never finish what you start.

It’s a really bad habit in life because quitting shows that you procrastinate.

Procrastination leads to no progress in life and it not only affects the task you are doing, but it affects everything else in your life.

On top of the added stress that comes along with not getting something done, you start to question yourself and engage in self-doubt.

This can lead to depression and health problems, which has a ripple effect on everything else in your life from relationships, your professional reputation and the quality of work you put out to the world.

It’s why you should persevere and finish what you started (provided that thing gets you to your goal) so you do not have these things happen in your life.

When you do this, you get happier and your quality of life will go up since you have more value to add to more people.

And let’s not forget the gratification that comes with completing something you started. It truly is a rewarding feeling when you can say “I did this. Yes!”

So let me ask you a question.

Would you rather live a life with regret or would you rather live a life of accomplishment and, as a worst case scenario, give yourself a pat on the back for doing down swinging instead of going down regardless of what happens?

Think about that. You might come to some insightful conclusions when you do this activity.

Comment below with your conclusions and what you will do as a result of reading this post today.

What will YOU strive to become the best at?

Remember, committing to become the best at what you do is a choice and one which you can make.

Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.

You CAN do it and you know you can.

You just need to see it for yourself and make the choice to become it.

And then work for it and you’ll achieve it.

Now get to it.

Until next time,

This is Evan signing off.
