How Much Does Logic Cost? Not much!

How Much Does Logic Cost? Not much!

Have you ever wondered why sometimes you just make bad decisions?

You know, the ones that make you cringe like “Ah geez, I should’ve done that!”

Those are the real bummers, the regrettable ones, and believe me, I’ve been there.

I know EXACTLY how you feel.

And I have the exact solution to your problem today.

The problem that you have desperately searched Google for, YEARNING for an answer!

Today you will find out that exact solution and the answer to the question “How much does logic cost?”

The answer: This solution.

The solution?

Here it comes!

Releasing your emotions and incorporating patience.

Releasing emotions?

Yes, let me prove it to you today.

The Proof

How Much Does Logic Cost? Not much!

Looking back at the times that you made bad decisions, did you always get extremely aroused by something that was presented in front of you and you said “Oh let’s do this right now!”

It sounded so exciting and that is was so, well, sexy at the moment and you couldn’t resist the offer at the moment?

And because you couldn’t resist it, you jumped right into the madness thinking that it was going to be either one, some, or all of these things:

“This is going to be the time of my life!”

“I’m going to get rich quick!”

“I am going to get f***** tonight!”

Well, I’m here to tell you that this was something called a sense of urgency arousement that gets people to think and act with emotion without actually reasoning with logic to justify that decision.

What does that mean exactly?

Well, let me put it this way.

We are creatures of emotion, that’s a law. There will always be an emotional aspect to our decision making simply because we want to feel a certain way whether it’s powerful when trying to manage employees or happy when going on a trip or donating to a charity.

Most people will see something that is SUPER exciting and jump at the first moment that they see it because they want to “feel good” now, or otherwise known as instant gratification. We have the “urge” to get into it now.

With logic, you get to look at the beneficial and costly sides of the coin in that you can make a sound and grounded choice as to whether or not something is the correct decision.

Because if something sounds great, and even something that sounds super pessimistic, should all be examined very closely, excluding life threatening emergencies of course.

The people presenting to you want to sell you on their agenda. That’s a fact.

Now the thing to see is if it is beneficial for you right now and in the future, even though they make it out to be.

And that is where everyone will miss the mark from time to time.

The bottomline is this:

You should always thoroughly investigate everything that you see even if it sounds very good or very bad.

And this involves 2 things:

A) Not acting solely on an emotional impulse

B) Taking the time that YOU need to make the decision (The only exception being a life threatening emergency)

Hence, the price of logic and what was mentioned in the beginning.

When those two things are done, logic will drive your thought process to the correct aswer for you.

If you can’t do any of those two things when making a decision, you are not equipped to make decisions.

Plain and simple.

Because you are not grounded at the time. At that time, you don’t have a grip on what’s going on.

And that is also what this post will elaborate on today; getting a grip on what’s important and managing it extremely well.

If you’re are extremely excited to learn this, keep on reading! Hang on!

What to Do to Release Emotion

How Much Does Logic Cost? Not much!

Here’s what you have to do to release emotion:

Relax.

Plain and simple.

How Much Does Logic Cost? Not much!

Now how do you relax?

Well, this typically varies from person to person, but the way that I do it is as follows (you can think of it as a step by step guide as to how to relax if you want):

I would first receive the emotional impulse, like you would when you see or process something.

Then, I would stop thinking about things for a long while so that my brain could naturally relax. Like literally shut it down.

Once I shut my brain down, I would relook the situation again from a problem solving point of view in that I will take myself out of the equation and say “What is actually going on here and how can I use my brain to solve this problem to get to the answer?”

Basically, I deconstruct the entire scenario in my head and I make sense out of it.

And the problem solving part is a story for another day since this is about relaxing.

But since I enjoy giving more than you expect, I’ll say it anyway! And also because I love helping people be happy; it’s my passion πŸ™‚

So for the problem solving part, I try to see it like a school problem in that I attempt to see where everything is coming from and why they come from there. This allows me to obtain a conceptual understanding of the situation at hand.

To answer the why in everything, I dig deeper into the theory of what could happen, what did happen, what could cause this to happen, and what is the motivation for this thing to occur.

With this, I can deduce whether or not someone or something is ethical.

I’ll give you an example.

Say that I saw a commercial for sunglasses and I see that there was a big line of people waiting around to get a chance to wear those sunglasses. I then see that there were a lot of people testifying that they were extremely satisfied with the glasses and that they recommend it to “anyone under the sun!”

Initially, I would get the impulse and be like “Oh my god, I have to get a pair of these sunglasses” like I’m an excited boy going to get his first toy!

However, I would consciously force myself to get rid of all of that euphoria that isn’t justified at all from a logical standpoint. I would call it “the garbage rule” in that, I just dump out the clutter thoughts.

I would then say to myself “OK, what is this commercial in the first place?” It’a an ad. An ad to sell. So I already know what type of problem that this is.

So then I see what principles that it involves. It involves using psychology to influence people. So then I see “OK, getting people to line up. When people see that there are a lot of people lined up, they must think that it is good. And because they have people lined up, they are trying to create the effect that the glasses are good and that it will make me curious to learn more about them and that the testimonials add to its proof of value and the ad’s credibility.”

So that’s what they are doing! Getting me to believe that those glasses are good! I must investigate the claims!

And, typically, it ends up being bad.

So that’s actually relaxing and problem solving in a nutshell. You just force yourself to settle down and then you ask yourself “What is this? Why are they doing this? Where is everything coming from?”

And those 3 questions will ultimately lead you to the answers as to what to do.

Hence, it’s wise to relax. πŸ™‚

What to Do to Become Patient

How Much Does Logic Cost? Not much!

For patience, the answer is this:

Keep working until you get what you set out to do and not drawing conclusions until you get an clear answer.

This doesn’t mean sit around and wait.

That’s honestly freakin’ ridiculous.

This patience is persisting until everything is achieved.

You want to build a successful blog? You work until it is fully achieved.

You want the answer to the problem? You work until it is fully achieved.

You want to retire? You work until it is fully achieved.

That’s true patience for ya!

Active movement while knowing that the result will come once I do the work that I need to do it get it done.

And that’s how an independent thinker uses sense of urgency to get the things that he needs done.

I don’t need to wait on some kingly god to bestow upon me some blessing.

No, I’ll go get and create my own blessings!

Of course, it’ll take me time to get to my goal, but I’ll get there and I’ll persist until I get there!

I won’t give up at any cost.

I seriously won’t.

And that’s how I am patient.

With a logical mind (And emotion saying “Daddy, buy me a toy!”)

Logic would say “OK emotional self, I’ll drive you to the store and buy you that toy! For my special son!”

And that is really what it is.

Calming down, relax, examine the situation, knowing what you have to do, and BOOM!

MOVING!

THAT’S PATIENCE FOR YA!

And that is what logic results for ya and it’s potential!

So what are you waiting for? Go and get logic now before you procrastinate and it’s too late and you say “Ah, darn it, I made another stupid choice today! Oh well, Netflix anyone?”

Catch ya later future islander and become logical!

Until next time,

This is Chief Islander Evan signing off.
