The Best INFP Careers Guide For Beginners

Hi there.

How are you?

Are you having a good day today?

I see that you are looking for a career that’s best for you or for someone you know and care about who might have an INFP personality type.

Would you like to know what careers might fit you?

Read on to find out those answers.

First, let me tell you something really important that is CRUCIAL for your future.

You are making the wisest and most enjoyable investment of your life looking up these answers on Google for picking a career.

Let me tell you why.

There are stories and studies that show that 80-99% of Americans choose the wrong career in their lifetimes.

Do you know what this means?

It means you are saving yourself from potential disaster and you are saving a lot of money over your lifetime.

You can look at these articles here and here to verify your essential discovery today.

So to that I say, congratulations for taking initiative to finding the career that’s right for you.

But that’s not enough.

In order to actually get the career that you want, you need to explore and try out the different type of careers that are out there because let’s face it, you don’t want to buy a suit or dress and realize that it doesn’t fit you when you try it on after you bought it!

You want to know before you go!

But at the same time, you don’t want to try out too many things because they take too much time and you want to just go on with your career and be happy!

And on top of this, you value a career that is idealistic.

You value a career that allows you to be super creative.

You value a career that’s true to you instead of someone else.

You value a career where you can have control over the outcome.

You value a career where you can express who you are.

And most of all, you want a career that does more than just pay the bills.

I’m so sure that you really want to find out what careers are out there for you that ring true to you, so let’s dive in as to what possible careers are a potential fit for you!

Potential Careers for YOU (A Strong Desire Is a MUST For These)

flowchart

I was going through a few resources in preparing this article for you and I wanted to share with you an interesting source I found from another INFP who wrote a fantastic piece on what careers potentially ring true for INFPs and their associated starting salaries and job descriptions.

It is extremely detailed and excellently prepared.

You can read that article here.

That was quite a big list wasn’t it?

And that’s not the only list out there.

In fact, Ball State University, an accredited university in Indiana, came out with a list of potential careers for different personality types and compiled each list based off of their own research into what careers fit certain people with certain personalities.

You can read that list here.

Now you might be asking yourself “Well, what if I need to get a degree to get into these professions? Degrees are expensive!”

For some of these professions, the answer is yes.

For instance, you cannot become a college professor without a college degree.

Now for a few others, there is another way that might be better for you.

For instance, let’s say you go through Invincible INFP’s list and determine that you wanted to become an author.

It says that you need a Bachelor’s Degree to do that.

You don’t.

What you DO need is a lot of hard work and a lot of hustle.

On top of that, depending on your genre, you need the following:

  1. A compelling plot that sells and captivates an audience

  2. Excellent marketing and copywriting skills

  3. Real life experience to add substance and credibility to what you are writing about (for nonfiction)

Of course, if you wrote a book about aerospace engineering for instance, then you would absolutely need a degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering to establish your credibility to your audience.

But if you were writing about real estate investing for instance, you don’t need a degree to write about that because your qualifications for writing such a book would be the success that you would have in buying and selling properties and in your ability to use that information to help your readers achieve success in real estate endeavors.

So to address the degree requirement, it really depends on what career you want and how the degree could assist you in breaking into that career better than any other vocational option out there.

You can read about different vocational options here.

Now you might be asking “Well those are some interesting options; what other options are not on that list that could be for me?”

Read on to know.

More Potential Careers for YOU Involving Originality

finger to take action

Before I begin this section, I want to make something really clear to you.

I have not been involved in these careers at all.

I am only telling you this information based off of the research that I’ve done. Of course, in order to actually know what these positions are like, you need to work in these fields, but that is beyond the scope of this blog post.

With that, here’s the ultimate INFP careers list (it’s a long one so hang tight).

1. Public Relations Specialist

specialist

This one came across as a surprise because when you think of public relations, you would think of an outgoing and extroverted person that loves to get along with people.

While a great portion of the job involves getting along with people, there are actually a lot of facets about being a PR specialist that line up with the qualities of your personality type.

First, a PR specialist has to think about how a brand is going to be perceived in the marketplace amongst whoever engages with them, whether it’s a client or the public, consumers, etc.

Then, the PR specialist has to go implement this strategy and maintain the positive image of the organization he or she is representing.

A company might tell you how their brand must be perceived, but in reality, you are in complete control of how that is done because you are competing with so many PR people in acquiring the company’s business AND in acquiring future business based on how you perform.

And you really need to think about how you are going to deliver effective results for the organization you are representing.

This is where being unique and true to you comes in because you might follow a conventional path of doing PR, but if that path doesn’t work, you and the company will be in a lot of trouble, especially since there are potentially millions and billions of dollars on the line.

And if you want to be creative with the process, that is a complete asset in this role if we go back to the part about finding ways to deliver results much better than anyone else.

With that said, if you are looking for a career where you can get out of your comfort zone and/or you want to meet a lot of important people (there are lots of networking opportunities in PR, especially with corporate events and very upscale parties) and/or you want to go a lot of interesting and exclusive places reserved for a few select people, being a PR specialist might be the springboard to future opportunity for you.

It is AMAZING how much potential you have if you are really good at this job. Any good PR specialist will definitely be employable and have a satisfying life with really good earning potential; I guarantee that one.

And not to mention the fact that it’s really volatile since you can work for organizations in different industries; you aren’t limited to 1 place. You can work in another industry if you wish and potentially without having to go back to school!

You can read more about being a PR specialist here, here and here if you wish.

2. Animator

animator

If you are drawn to video games and cartoons and you want to do work that allows you to create something you’ve always found fascinating, this is a job you should definitely consider.

Being an animator involves a lot of creativity, as you would imagine, dreaming up all of those characters and bringing them to life.

It does allow you a great opportunity to control the characters and express them in a way that defines who you are that will bring them to life.

A lot of times, this job allows you to not have to go to a 9-5, which means you probably won’t have to go to a traditional working office to do your job and you are most likely given the opportunity to set your own hours.

Additionally, this profession is mostly in the entertainment industry, which means if you are really good at what you do, you’ll have the opportunity to receive a lot of networking opportunities with different companies that can really take you places like networking with top production companies like Disney. Who knows where that can lead if you put your head down and work?!

And of course, let’s not forget to mention the potential business that can come your way if you are one of the best and you are extremely great to work with; especially if you are really good and really dedicated to it.

You can read more about being an animator here and here if you wish.

Of course, there are cons to being an animator, but the fact that you don’t have to go to a traditional office combined with the potential for self-expression in your work is really attractive and I highly recommend that you consider this career if you feel it aligns with your values.

3. Copywriter

money to a writer

Before I talk about this particular career, let me make this point very clear to you.

Regardless if what profession you eventually choose, you are going to need to learn this skill.

The reason is because copywriting is the skill that allows you to sell in print. In other words, it gives you the ability to persuade other people to take action on what you are asking them to take action on.

Now think about it. When you sell yourself, isn’t that what you are doing?

If you look deeper, it is.

Whether it’s a résumé or a LinkedIn description, you are persuading people to contact you to learn more about what you do and to eventually buy a product or in this case, hire you for a job.

It means you yourself are a business.

Understand that very clearly.

Now as for being a copywriter, it is also an extremely creative profession just like being an animator. You can imagine things and put them into the written word to sell whatever you are selling. In fact, the best copywriters do just that to sell their products.

If you work within the principles that is needed to get a reader down to buy whatever you are selling, you can absolutely control the outcome of the event and you can be versatile with that skill set since you can sell in one industry in one day and in another industry in the next.

It is incredibly idealistic because when you come up with a concept to use to sell a product, it might not seem to be related to what you are selling, but it might actually be the thing that works Hence, it is an outside of the box profession and skillset and one where you cannot simply think within the confines of the situation to do well.

So if you value a challenging profession and one where your income depends on the value that you bring to the marketplace and has an extremely high demand for if you can get really good at it, this is a fantastic profession for you to take a look at.

Again, I recommend you learn copywriting regardless of what profession you go into because it will set you apart and it will make a difference in your results; I can guarantee it with full confidence.

And just so you know, if you got down this far into the post, it was because of copywriting. Me getting you to read all the way down here is no accident. It took a lot of thought and the way that this post is constructed is, at the very minimum, mostly in line with principles that make a good copywriter.

Imagine what you can do if you had what is really a superpower, much more powerful than writing code.

You can read more about copywriting here and here if you wish.

4. Digital Marketing

digital marketing

This is another surprise because if you think of marketing, you think of being highly social and super energetic folks who just love to be around people.

But, the truth is that introverts fly quite well in this industry.

Why?

The reason is because there is a lot of logic involved in this industry, which suits well for those who love to think things through, combined with the fact that it does involve creativity in coming up with processes that get results for companies and clients.

Also, digital marketing is a profession where you typically do not have a traditional work schedule and has the potential for location independence, which means you can work from anywhere in the world and get the job done.

However, it doesn’t mean sit on the beach all day like a lazy bum.

It means get the job done with some flexibility.

Additionally, digital marketing is an industry where your reputation is based on the results that you deliver and the trust that you establish.

If you are someone who likes to take control of the outcome and get to the point with things and is in demand, chances are this is the career for you.

This is an industry that rewards this and more.

And here’s another thing.

Probably more than any other industry, the degree to which you lie will get you in the most trouble.

In other words, if you lie or under deliver in digital marketing, you are going to get tossed fast.

Why?

Because companies and clients want results and they want people who stick to their word and are focused on the job at hand more than anything else.

After all, companies and clients typically pay thousands of dollars for just one service because that is how much responsibility you will be taking on.

And here’s another thing about it.

The networking opportunities are HUGE in this industry.

If you deliver a great service, your name will spread to significant sources like fire.

And that means more business for you and an extremely great reputation amongst an entourage of companies and entrepreneurs, who if you connect with them, they can REALLY take your career to the next level.

Your potential is really high in this industry if you get to it and you should definitely consider a career in digital marketing.

You can read more about it here and here.

5. Software Development

software development

This one had to be on the list for numerous reasons.

First, it’s a job that allows you to spend most of your time by yourself working on code and allowing you to creatively implement the code to get a problem solved.

Second, if you love computers and technology, this is a GREAT career to pick because it is true to who you are and your passion will drive you to master the skills required to succeed in this field, which will put you over the top and be heavily sought after.

Additionally, this job is heavily in demand right now with over 300000 job openings and a six figure average salary via the BLS and 24% job growth.

These are some really, really good numbers when you consider the supply and demand aspect of the job.

There a few developers to fulfill the demand!

That means if you master the skills required for the job, you will get paid.

And if you are not particularly passionate about a career, I recommend that you give this profession a look to at least pay the bills and give you some job security.

And let’s not forget the fact that software development has the potential to allow you the option to be location independent and the ability to charge your own rates based on the value that you bring to the marketplace.

I would give it a look if I were you. It does check off all of the boxes to at least consider it as a career!

You can read more about software development here and here if you wish.

6. Content Strategist

content marketing

If you are creative, being a content strategist is definitely something for you to consider.

Why is this?

People are always willing to give away their attention to great content.

They can consume it all day if they can.

As a result, businesses recognize the need for this great content and are willing to spend big bucks on someone who can advise them or create for them content that holds the attention of their audience and gets them to buy, whether it’s the written word or graphics or videos or whatever media is called for.

As someone who is creative and has a different approach to things, you can come up with extremely innovative ideas that can reflect who you are (but mostly your client and their audience) and can bring this content to life and satisfy a client or a company you work for.

And if you take enough initiative, you can use the skills you learn in this profession to create something of your own like a blog or a YouTube channel or an Instagram account and use that vehicle to generate a lot of money for yourself and turn those channels into a viable business for you.

Of course, having a successful business is not a guarantee, but you will at least be well prepared and have the enthusiasm for the task when the times get tough.

You can read more about being a content strategist and the skills involved in this profession here and here if you wish.

7. Higher Education Administrator

higher education

This one came across as a surprise, but it does sound enticing for the right person, especially if you want to be involved with university life for the rest of your life!

But in all seriousness, being an administrator for a university allows you the autonomy to engage with students and to develop your own agenda for how you would run things like campus tours to handling the university’s finances to coordinating marketing efforts, etc.

You can become extremely involved with this really quickly if you become extremely passionate with the thought of controlling what you are doing and creating your own campaigns to come to life.

It does take a great deal of thought and idealism to actually implement a successful campaign for a university and to deal with students because universities have to compete with each other to acquire and retain students and you need to come up with innovative ways to keep them if every other method doesn’t make the cut.

And in terms of dealing with students, it can be gratifying if you enjoy working with a group of people that you can get along with and you don’t get a supervisor constantly telling you how to approach them and what to say to them on top of the fact that you can see them succeed as a result of things you said and did with them that got them to that point.

You can read and watch more about the position here and here if you wish.

8. Geographer

earth geography

This one is extremely fascinating if it rings to you!

In case you are not familiar, geographers study the land masses of the Earth and use that data to create technical documents to assist people and entities like the Federal Government, engineering firms and urban planners detect possible areas for natural disasters and to build structures like urban housing.

And not only that, this is one of those occupations that involves a lot of traveling, so if you become a geographer, you might be able to go to some fascinating places to do your research!

Being a geographer also allows you to be creative in using software like GIS (Geographical Information System) to present data that you collected in a unique way that can send business to you.

And if you are very passionate about it, you can really own this space because it is SO small in size. According to the BLS, there are only 1500 geographers employed in the US. This is a positive and a negative because you will have to compete with many people to get a job, but it can be very rewarding if you break in and apply yourself with your passion and creative mind.

You can read more about being a geographer here, here and here.

9. Education Consultants

consultant

If you have an entrepreneurial inclination and you like advising within the realms of formal education, this job might be for you.

Education consultants advise parents and students on postsecondary plans and what vocational options to take up as a result of their interests and aptitudes.

This position is creative in that you can add a unique perspective based on your experience with career decision making and based off of the value that you bring, you can control what you charge in the marketplace.

In other words, your skills and expertise in delivering results for clients relative to every other competitor determines how much you get paid.

If you enjoy helping people, this is a great option to consider if you fully understand careers and how different educational options affect how people do in their chosen careers.

And being an educational consultant doesn’t end there.

You can also use your creativity to advise school districts and universities on how to integrate new teaching techniques in classrooms to improve student performance and employability.

And there is plenty more to it than what I just listed. See for yourself with these resources here, here and here.

10. Coach

coach

Whether you are a life coach or a fitness coach or a sports coach, this occupation could be for you.

This position allows you to control the outcome of what happens with your client or team when you combine your creativity and your ability to implement your vision of what should happen to deliver them results.

Additionally, when you get those results, you can derive great satisfaction from your work since it is a product of what you have done to get them results and is a testament to who you are.

And when you are a coach of any type, your ability to communicate exactly what you want and to be clear of your expectations will automatically command the respect of the entire team or your clients and they will be extremely motivated to achieve the results they want while following your recommendations.

Just do everyone a favor if you decide to become a coach, don’t lose games.

You will lose an entire fan base and your clients if they don’t get results.

When a coach is involved, you are the number one target for the blame.

But when you win, everyone praises you.

And you cannot ignore the feeling of winning championships when that happens.

And when you win one championship, you’ll want to win another and another and another, etc.

It’s probably one of the most gratifying jobs on the planet if it’s for you and if being a coach rings to you, I highly recommend you look into it, particularly with something that you are good at like a sport or a skill or something else that you can offer to someone else and can help them win.

You can read more about coaching here, here and here if you wish.

Now there are also careers that might not be suited for you based on your personality, so let’s get into those.

Careers You Might Want to Avoid (These Don’t Typically Involve Creativity)

1. Sales Manager

busy man

Now, this is not to be confused with actually learning about sales because here’s the truth:

You need to know how to sell.

If you don’t, you will not get ahead in life.

It’s that simple.

I can give you an example of an INFP who was REALLY GOOD at selling things and it might be the last person you would associate with sales.

It’s Mr. Rogers.

Let me explain why.

In 1969, Fred Rogers gave a testimony to the US Senate to fund $140 million for his television program Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. The man he had to convince was notoriously difficult to sell and always refused to fund anything.

Now Fred Rogers was known as a really soft spoken man. He had no intentions of trying to “push” people to do anything.

But, he knew deep down that he could not get away from the inevitable reality of needing to sell something.

And because he understood that, he came through big time.

Not only did he secure the $140 million dollars in funding for the show, but he did it in a way that got the tough guy to approve the funding within the first 6 minutes.

That’s how powerful his testimony was. You can see it here if you wish.

And here’s the other thing about Mister Rogers that’s really interesting.

In almost every episode, he would talk in a way that would literally suck you into what he was saying and pretty much force you to pay attention for the entire episode.

I invite you to watch this clip right here and I dare you to tell me in the comments that you would not have been sucked in if you were a child.

He set those episodes up like that on purpose to get you to nod your head when you heard him. And then, he would mention stories that you are emotionally attached to and have potentially experienced yourself and would feel like you are being comforted by him and hence, you would be forced to watch the entire episode and watch more episodes.

And believe it or not, he wrote all of the music for every single episode.

Why did he do that?

Because he knew he could set up the buying environment in a way to get his audience to feel comfortable enough to watch the first episode they see. And because he personalized with the audience throughout their first episode, they would come back and watch again.

And that’s why Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood had the success it had.

It wasn’t because Fred Rogers was an INFP.

It because he knew how to sell and close.

So what’s the moral of the story?

Regardless if your personality, you need to know how to sell and close.

It’s that simple.

Everything happens because of someone persuading somebody that he or she should take action on doing something that can solve their problem.

And that is essential for every profession out there, so I highly recommend that you keep it mind and don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t learn how to sell and close because your life and future income depends on it.

Now having said that, this is not to say that you need to be a sales manager in a car dealership dealing with unhappy customers.

If this doesn’t suit you, you are better off avoiding it.

Typically, being a sales manager involves you speaking to large crowds and dealing with both customers and employees in a traditionally hectic environment where you have to constantly talk to people and, at times, push people to do what you want them to do.

This might not fit well with you if you are constantly put under pressure with tight deadlines and you must think of the solution in 5 seconds or less or you will lose the sale.

This is what happens in sales when you have a client or a customer who might be stalling or has somewhere at a certain time and you don’t have time to think.

Of course, not to say that you can’t do this, but according to research of all of the different personality types in this position, INFPs typically don’t fare too well in a sales manager position for the reasons that I have listed, so you should definitely consider those potential downsides if you are considering becoming a sales manager.

You can read more about being a sales manager here and here if you wish.

2. Lawyer

legal

Not surprisingly, this should be on the list for every personality type who’s in it for the money! I mean look at the potential cluelessness!

But seriously, to be a lawyer, you must be able to perform under pressure, especially if you are working on a big case or you need to make a tight deadline.

And also, sometimes you need to go against your values to win a case if it means establishing your reputation.

A lot of times, this happens because students are under SO much financial stress because of the student loans that hinder over their heads.

Chances are if you go to law school, you would take out loans to do so.

Not a good idea.

Oftentimes, you would need to work under a senior partner in a firm who pretty much dictates every move that you do, so you do not get to control the outcome of your work until several years later when you can start your own practice or you become a partner.

As a lawyer, you need to be very patient until you get to become an authority figure and that might be a troublesome scenario for you to consider when choosing a career.

Oh and let’s not forget that you should work under a lawyer first before you consider law school to get an idea as to whether it’s for you or not.

That’s not a bad idea since you’ll get a taste of what it’s like to be a lawyer and to see if it’s a potential fit for you versus winging $100000+ in student loans at a 7% interest rate on a career that you may or may not like and will get stuck at if you don’t like it or be underemployed because there are too many lawyers compared to the demand for them.

A lot to take into account if you are considering being a lawyer, but from the outside looking in, unless you work under a lawyer first and see if it’s for you or not, please avoid law.

You’ll save yourself.

You can read more into being a lawyer here if you wish.

3. Stage Performer

performer

Being on stage means you need to get in front of an audience all of the time and confronting stage fright if you have it.

Now before I get into detail with regards to being on a stage, just like selling, you are going to have to do public speaking.

There is no way around it.

At one point or another, you are going to need to speak in front of a group of people, whether it’s a job interview or you need to make a presentation or whatever occasion, you will need to do this.

Again, I will refer you back to the Mister Rogers testimony to prove my point. If he did not get in front of the Senate, he would not have gotten the funding for the show.

It’s that simple.

So I recommend you take a public speaking class or maybe hire someone to coach you on public speaking so you can sharpen those skills now so you don’t have to pay opportunity cost with your reputation later on down the road.

Now as far as being a performer is concerned, you can express who you are in your work, but the people aspect might throw you off.

Additionally, you will have to work with other people because if you are a performer, you are going to rehearse and that involves the coordination of other people, especially if the performance involves other people performing.

In short, you will not be alone most of the time.

So if you desire a career where you want to be alone, chances are, being a performer is not for you.

However, there are plenty of shy people who do make it as performers so it is not out of the realm of possibility if you really want to be one. You just have to understand who you are and stay true to it and fix the things you need to fix so you give the audience a good show.

You can read more about being a performer here if you wish.

4. Police Officer

police officer

This one definitely deals with people and it’s not always pretty.

If you a naturally shy and you imagine idealism, then being a police officer is definitely not for you.

This is a job that is the complete opposite of idealism and is as real world as it gets.

Sure, you might come up with some creative way to catch a bad guy, but that is not the type of idealism that is desirable to get a career that’s rewarding like a content strategist or a software developer for instance.

It’s you need to get the bad guy or you are fired.

And also, why would you want to be in an environment where you need to try to catch a bad guy all of the time? That must be extremely annoying to do on a daily basis!

And also, since you value being true to yourself no matter what, as a police officer, you’ll need to enforce a law or two that you don’t agree with and you will be held accountable for not doing so even if you disagree with those laws.

Do you really want to do that?

Again, I advise that you shadow a police officer first, if you can, to get a sense of the work and see if it’s a fit for you, but in general, I would advise against becoming a police officer regardless of your personality type even though we do need them.

The only exception to this is if you are Chris Tucker and can goof off as one in Rush Hour.

5. News Anchor

news anchor

Get ready to be scrutinized big time with this position!

As a news anchor, you need to get in front of the camera and in front of an entire viewing audience who will determine your reputation.

As a result, whether you are a local news anchor or a national TV news anchor, people will know who you are and your opportunity to have privacy is going to drop significantly.

Therefore, if you are someone who wants to be left alone and you want to control the outcome of the situation, you might want to pass on being a news anchor since your reputation and your privacy is not in your control, even if you do your job well.

Now you can be true to yourself as a news anchor and express your personality, which the best news anchors do, but you must also take into account the lack of privacy you will need to endure if you choose to become one, both at the local and national levels.

You can read these posts here and here to learn more about what a news anchor does.

6. Finance

money

When I say finance, I mean the finance industry (banks, credit unions, etc.).

If you prefer to work alone, this is not for you.

You are always pushing products and you have to constantly talk to potential clients, you will work extremely long hours with a senior boss on your neck 24/7 and you will be stuck making spreadsheets and PowerPoints all day long.

If you are a creative, do yourself a favor:

RUN THE OTHER WAY!

And additionally, a lot of the finance jobs, sorry to say, go to those who did well at quote “top-tier” schools like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UPenn, etc.

It is very competitive and you will work your ass off for someone else for a really long time before you become an executive for whoever you are working for.

And many times, you will not be true to yourself because many of these companies lie like crazy to keep their business afloat. If you value being true to yourself, finance isn’t for you.

And also, chances are you will have to move to a big city to do the job because those places are where the jobs are.

So if you want to stay where you are and you are in a rural area, this profession isn’t for you.

And there’s more.

If you desire an executive position, you would need to get an MBA from at least a top 5 school (no less) which if the company doesn’t pay for it, chances are you are going to have to borrow for it.

Ouch.

So with all of this said, unless you want a headache for at least the next 5 years after you get out of school, stay away from the beast that is finance.

BUT, don’t neglect your personal finances and your investing future. You will REALLY get stung in the behind if you neglect those things!

You can read more about a finance career here if you wish.

7. Politician

politician

When I saw this one in my research, I knew I had to mention this to you.

Let me tell you something about politicians.

They are as close to puppets as you can get.

They are mostly never true to themselves, they do anything to please people just to get a vote, as a group they are incredibly dishonest and they do not care about others.

They are manipulative and have nothing better to do in life.

Additionally, if they have an agreement with donors, they cannot be original in their ideas and they cannot express who they are in their work because they obligations to whoever is funding their campaign.

That is a really stressful life if you ask me and if you have to people please all of the time just to get a vote, come on man!

I mean just take a look at how they are dressed. Sure, they look polished up and all, but that is the puppetry in action. They want to look all brushed up and beautiful like they care, but in reality, it’s a façade.

That’s not a career that’s true to you! That’s being a slave for no reason at all!

So unless you have enough money to control the government and you can create the laws to your advantage, just stay out of politics in general and let the clowns deal with the mess that they make just for show (it really is just a show and a waste of time).

8. Sports Announcer

sports announcer

This one is not for you if you don’t like sports or you are want to be left alone.

Being a sports announcer is A LOT harder than it looks.

Not only do you have to watch the game with a very analytical eye, but you must call every play perfectly and with great improvisation and you need to really know what you are talking about when you are calling the plays.

An audience might be focused on the game, but if you stumble on the air too much because you don’t have enough time to prepare what you will say, the ratings are going to drop and you will be on the hot seat.

If your personality does not fall within this requirement of improvisation, I would think three times before going into sports broadcasting.

You really need to be on your toes when you are calling the game.

Of course, if you are a sports fan, your love of sports might make up for the mismatch in the personality since you’ll want to be so involved in it that you might get every call right on the air. But it is wise to take into account your personality fit for the role and see how that affects things.

9. Medical and Health Services Manager

medical field

This one is a surefire way to not be by yourself all the time.

Basically, medical and health services managers run hospitals and medical facilities and they have to things like manage employees, represent the hospital in public and private events and manage patients in the facility.

It’s an occupation where you have to interact with people a lot on top of working in a very unhealthy place if you don’t know what you’re doing (hand-sanitizer anyone?), so if you don’t want to constantly be in people’s faces for most of your workday, you are better off passing on this occupation.

And on top of interacting with people, this is definitely not a role where idealism will get the job done and you must look at everything from a realistic standpoint in order to succeed and keep your job.

You can be creative, but it’s limited to certain things like how you resolve an issue between employees or how you improve workplace efficiency. Basically, your creativity is limited to typical workplace stuff that applies to any position; it’s nothing like writing a unique animation character that sells and melts your heart.

Being a health services manager will not give you that level of satisfaction with respect to your own creative work.

You can read more about being a medical services manager here and here if you wish.

10. Accountant

accounting

Accountancy is not a creative profession.

Basically, you are crunching numbers all day and you have to constantly follow the tax codes (which is useful in of itself).

There are a lot of limitations as to how you can make balance sheets and financial reports because of the way the profession is traditionally handled and how clients like to see them.

Also, you have to interact with clients on numerous occasions and you must work under a supervisor for most of your early career, so you will be restricted on the creativity there and you’re not going to be able to work alone most of the time (or at least a hawk watching your every move).

And if you want self-expression in your work, being an accountant is most likely not for you. Crunching numbers all day while following codes will only have you following routines and not give you a lot of leeway to go outside of the box aside from explaining a concept to a client in a unique way to close a sale.

But that’s necessary in every profession and is not specifically unique to accounting.

Of course, you might like crunching numbers all day, so on that end it might be for you and I might be missing some things that do make accountants uniquely creative, but again, it’s wise to take into account your personality fit as it pertains to the role.

The Bottom Line About Your Career, Profession and Occupation

happy person with a happy career

I have to give it to you for sticking all the way to the end because this was a LONG blog post and hopefully, you got a lot of useful information out of it.

Now this post covered a lot of typical careers that someone with your personality type (or someone you care about who is an INFP) would be successful in and not be successful in based on data feedback from those working in those occupations and having the INFP personality.

But, don’t let this list stop you from trying any of these careers out before deciding which one to pursue because you might like, say, being an accountant so much and you might desire to become the best at it.

It all varies with the person and you might find that this list isn’t all too accurate for you because you researched yourself that another list is particularly useful for you.

Choosing a career that’s right for you is definitely not an easy task because if it was easy, everybody would be in their dream career.

But you don’t have to make it so hard on yourself like many people do because they didn’t take the steps to find something that’s true to them and is their calling in life.

This recommendation might sound cliché, but I personally think this is a great idea for you to start generating some ideas as to what you or someone you care about might want to pursue in the future.

Take a career test here by CareerFitter and based off of your answers, you will find some ideas for trying out careers that might be for you.

By the way, I’m an affiliate for this, but when I took it to research this post, it was spot on with what I had in mind and everything in the detailed report described exactly who I was and my approach to things; I really believe in it.

It walks you through 6 different industries that might be a fit for you and many different jobs that are potentially a fit with a link to the BLS to find out additional data about the job itself like job growth and how many jobs are being created and the median salary for the occupation, so there is no shortage of options for you.

Of course you can get the BLS information for free, but you’re really paying for organization of data and to remove uncertainties when picking a career.

Here’s what it looks like so you can get an idea for yourself of your potential experience with CareerFitter:

career choices

Obviously, too many options are not a good thing and it does have the tendency to give you too many options, but you can take a look at them and develop an inner gut feeling about what might be a fit and what might not be a fit and do your research from there and try out those careers.

Write the options that you want and don’t want on a sheet of paper and start researching those careers in great detail.

Now of course, the BLS report is just a clue as to what things look like, so you’ll need to contact people in the jobs it recommends you in order to really dial in on what you need to do for your particular game plan for breaking into the industry you desire.

The CareerFitter report also gives you additional data like a summary and personality charts of how you would most act in the workplace and adjectives that describe you based on your answers to the 60 question test that has 2 choices per question. I’ll put pictures of this to show you what I mean.

summary of careers

career personalities

The report also discusses and lists occupational factors, which are factors that represent ideal working conditions that you can use to determine if a particular career rings true to you. I will show you a picture of my report to demonstrate what I mean.

occupational factors

The CareerFitter report shows you how your personality lines up with certain values that would most likely serve as strengths to you when you go into a job and it can help you in choosing a career that caters to your strengths. Here are a few pictures to show you what I mean:

The report also shows you your potential weaknesses that you need to watch out for when you do go to work and it does so in very good detail. I’ll show you mine so you can get an idea of what it looks like.

career weaknesses

But there’s more to this.

The report also shows you how you would most likely want your business environment to look like so you can perform your best and how you would like to communicate in the workplace and how you would like others to communicate to you. Here are pictures from my report to show you what I mean.

business environment

It also gives you your potential team building approach and your management approach in the workplace so you can find a career that aligns with those values. Again, here are the pictures from my report to show you what it looks like.

team building management

There is a $19.95 fee for a full report, but imagine paying that and saving at least $30000 and 4-5 years of your life. Doing this research saves you and makes you money, especially when you are trying to select a career that’s right for you and you want to avoid the costly wrong decision. So I definitely invite you to take the CareerFitter test so you can see what careers potentially line up with how you approach things in life.

It might be the wisest and most enjoyable investment in your life if you handle it correctly and with the correct research afterwards.

Of course, no test is 100% accurate, but I would say that from what I see, this is at minimum, 90% accurate as to what careers fit you.

Now you could go to other career tests on the web and you can do it with a click of a button, but again, you get what you pay for and the clock is REALLY ticking on you to decide on a career, so you would want to get comprehensive insight into this ASAP so you can avoid inaccurate tests and very costly mistakes all because you wanted to think about it and you completely forgot to do it.

Save your time, money and career with the CareerFitter test today.

And if you don’t do it for yourself or the person you care about, at least do it for me because I did put my heart into writing this post for you to help you avoid the costly career mistakes that can ruin your life if you do it wrong.

Yes, I do try to make money with this blog, but I never recommend anything that I don’t believe in because on top of losing money, I would personally, if money was taken out, feel disgusted about lying.

Don’t question pressure for my persistence and confidence in you and your abilities to succeed in life with what I’m recommending to you.

And if you think it’s too expensive or you’re too far over budget to do a career test, just think about how much you spend on stuff in your life that you can cut out if you just took the effort to like coffee, paying the credit card on time, kids stuff, entertainment, etc. and putting it to your future. You’d see a lot of great results in your life.

So take that first step today. Here’s the link again if you didn’t catch it the first time around.

On top of the CareerFitter test, I also recommend for you to think of some careers of the top of your head that excite you the most and you would love to pursue. Write those down.

Also look up all of the careers in demand and write those down as well. Examples of these are software development and becoming a nurse.

And also recall the things that you always wanted to do when you were young (about 5-7 years old) and write those down. Chances are, these are the ones that are going to make you happy in your life.

Like I said earlier, I recommend that you work in these fields before pursuing any vocational training because you want to get a sense of what it’s like in those careers before committing to them since choosing your career is a significant decision that if done incorrectly, it will yield significant negative consequences.

Contact these people and ask if you can shadow them. If you persist, you’ll eventually find a yes, so keep at it if it doesn’t seem like it’s working.

And please note, don’t think that you necessarily need university to pursue any options that don’t require one because a degree program can hold you back in life if it is not the correct vehicle in helping you achieve your goals, not to mention a lot of debt that can’t be discharged in bankruptcy.

I also recommend that you try this activity in a post that I wrote to redirect your sexual energy from guys and women to whatever you desire in life because that is the secret of obsession and when you become obsessed to the point where you have your bottoms engaged in it, you are really going to make something of yourself.

I also recommend a book called “Think and Grow Rich” that is known as the “Bible of Success” and receives testimonials from every successful person in the world as being the book that changed their mindset in life and is the one responsible for giving them the foundation to succeed in whatever they are doing.

You can read an interesting testimonial here and you can grab a copy of the book here on Amazon.

Please note that I am an affiliate for Amazon and I do receive a commission off of your purchase if you buy through my link. The price that you pay for the book will not change.

And last but not least, I leave you off with this piece of advice:

Be true to yourself no matter what.

People will tell you to be something else that you are not just because they don’t want to see you get ahead in life.

Don’t listen to those people. Just do you and never shy away from it.

You are really beautiful in and out and I mean that.

What makes you you is what makes you stand out and what makes you shine in life and what brings you joy to yourself and to others in their lives.

If you look around, most people are living lies and they are not living lives that don’t reflect who they are as people and as a result, they experience the terrible consequences that arise.

Please don’t be one of those people and be honest with yourself and just live it.

So go make something of your life and show the world who’s the boss!
