7 Fast Things That Occur When You Are Not Disciplined

7 Fast Things That Occur When You Are Not Disciplined

Do you want to know the excruciatingly annoying setbacks that occur when you are not disciplined?

Read on to know what they are.

1. You Don’t Have Self-Control

7 Fast Things That Occur When You Are Not Disciplined

The essence of discipline is self-control and taking action every day towards what you want in a consistent manner.

When you do this, you get to predict your world and you get to shape everything around you

The reason for this is because your routine is time-tested and proven to work.

And when the method is proven to work and you use it every day, you can feel confident in your abilities without getting uncertain about what is going to happen.

It’s like you have a crystal ball and you can magically see what will happen before everybody else sees the results.

And when you have these great habits, you can see things other people can’t and you can see what other people are doing without them seeing what you are doing.

At this point, you can justifiably predict that you will beat them at what you do.

This is the root of self-control.

When you are not disciplined, the exact opposite happens.

You become confused, unfocused and extremely tired from all of the agony that occurred as a result of not sticking to the process.

It’s like you are sailing on a ship and you are going through the choppy waters of a category 5 hurricane and you can’t control the ship.

You are bound to sink and the storm will eat you up alive since it sees exactly what you are doing.

This is why self-discipline is extremely important and you will not achieve any progress in your life without it.

If you want to see a case study of a lack of self-discipline resulting in you losing control of what you do, read this article here about how a lack of discipline caused 1 football team to be a big fat mess throughout the season.

How does 2nd highest penalties in the league and 1st in ejections sound?

Not too good.

That’s what a lack of self-control brings.

And when you have a lack of self-control like the Browns, this is what happens:

2. You Become Stressed

7 Fast Things That Occur When You Are Not Disciplined

Stress comes from not knowing what is coming up next.

Hence, when something is uncertain, you get frazzled and you panic about what will happen next.

This is a situation you must avoid at all costs.

Why?

Because you become fearful of the unknown and fear is the ultimate killer of success and any type of goal you aspire to.

Have you ever been in school and you were working on an assignment with a tight deadline?

What did you feel?

Stressed.

Why?

Because you had an intense fear of the unknown and to an extent, you could not predict whether or not you’d finish the assignment on time.

This is why discipline is important.

With straight up discipline and a strict focus on the main thing being the main thing, you’ll get rid of any uncertainty with regards to turning in the assignment and you will get the grades you want.

And also imagine this:

Were you ever stressed about an exam and you had butterflies in your stomach?

Of course, some professors will do some crazy stuff like put a question they said would not go on the exam, but for the most part, do you know why most students get stressed?

They’re not disciplined.

And as a result, they get really bad scores.

I can prove this to you right now.

Even if we are just out on the street, what is the very first thing you see someone doing?

I’ll give you a hint, a fruit.

If you want to know the answer, it’s the smartphone.

Almost everyone in the world spends unlimited amounts of time on that thing without realizing how much time they are spending.

And when it’s time to get down to business, they immediately regret it and they must complete the task at hand with the limited time they now have.

This is where a lot of stress kicks in for most people that can easily be avoided with some proper planning and sticking to the program you set for yourself.

When you master and implement this concept successfully, you will win like a champion.

But until then, stress will kick in, and losing will continue.

And if the stress continues and you don’t have a plan, this will occur:

3. You Have No Direction

7 Fast Things That Occur When You Are Not Disciplined

I invite you to sail on a ship where we don’t know where we are going!

How fun does that sound?

Not so fun, right?

Here’s the deal:

When you are not disciplined, there is no plan and because of that, there is no direction.

As a result, everybody involved will not be on the same page and people will play all over the place without a systematic and cohesive effort.

Have you ever been involved with this at some point in your life? Comment below if this has happened to you.

And what happens next when everyone is not on the same page?

There’s no action.

And when there’s no action, nothing gets done.

This is why direction is important.

It is the only way to have a goal and achieve it in its entirety.

It’s like you are going down a path where it is going to the place you clearly want to go to.

You walk on it with certainty and confidence since you know it will go there.

That’s why you need discipline.

You get on the path that works and as a result, you get to the place you want to end up in.

You have your certainty and you have your compass guiding you to your unique place.

And if you consistently follow this method, you will eventually win your championship(s).

It is a tried and true method.

And when you develop the formula for winning your championships, you’ll have control over every situation you encounter.

But, if you don’t develop your direction, another downside will happen and this downside is:

4. You Don’t Have Power

7 Fast Things That Occur When You Are Not Disciplined

Have you ever seen a championship sports team not have power over the circumstances of the game?

No way.

Every team that goes against this championship squad will always have a hard time beating them because the championship team has mastered the discipline necessary to hone their skills and to see what their opponent is doing.

The thing in sports and in business is most people are going to be undisciplined.

That’s a fact.

If you are disciplined, you are already at a competitive advantage because you can crack down on what everyone else is doing easily and in most cases, you can just follow your process to victory.

Now when you are undisciplined, you give up control over the situation and you will be eaten up by that category 5 wave that will see your weakness.

There are many case studies that show how this is true and you can read one here if you wish.

And here’s the real sucker with being undisciplined and a true benefit of being disciplined that I will discuss in a moment:

5. You Can’t Predict Your Success

7 Fast Things That Occur When You Are Not Disciplined

This is the stinger with being undisciplined.

You can’t be certain that your plan will work if you keep goofing off.

That’s just reality.

Imagine a guy running around in circles when he is supposed to run straight on the court.

The other team, that is disciplined, has a 5 on 4 advantage on the other side of the court and has already practiced every scenario involving a 5 on 5 advantage.

Do you know what’s going to happen?

They will get to the hole because there is going to be an opening near the rim and no one defending him and hence, the guy with the ball is going to him to get the easy score.

Now, let’s say this happens throughout the game.

The same guy is running around in circles and the coach is not doing anything about him.

What will happen?

The other team will run the same play again (or maybe different plays in case the other team figures out what they’ll do) and they will blow the opponent out.

This is an out there example, but it is exactly what happens when you are not holding yourself accountable to the standards you set.

And the other team will take advantage of you for it.

Now let’s look on the flip side.

Imagine a basketball team who holds themselves accountable and they do not miss a single step in their routine.

They show up every day to practice, the team trusts each other, they study and master the playbook right down to the tee and they follow their training regimen perfectly.

They watch the film and pinpoint any patterns that the other team has that they can prepare for and they also for any curveballs the other team can throw at them.

During the game, they have it easy since they know what is going to happen and the surprises the other team tries to bring isn’t a shock.

The result:

They consistently win their games by 20-30 points.

Why?

Because with extreme discipline, they have done everything they needed to do to win.

And that’s what it is.

When you know you’ve done what you needed to do to win, in most cases, you have already won before the battle has even started (assuming you execute the plan).

Think about when you had that test under lockdown.

You won before you knew all of the material on the back of your head.

That’s what discipline will give you if you stick to it.

But if you don’t stick to it, this is what will happen:

6. You Quit On What You Want

7 Fast Things That Occur When You Are Not Disciplined

Let’s face it: Everyone hates losing.

It’s a sinking feeling that stings us when it happens and in some instances, it’s hard to get over it when there is a bad call or things just simply didn’t go your way.

However, there is a key difference between losing when any of the above situations happened even though you did everything correctly versus losing consistently because you are consistently doing everything incorrectly.

When you lose and you did everything correctly, it might’ve been some misstep that you didn’t notice that you made and you will fix it for next time. That is something learned from experience and you are growing as a result when you fix it.

But when you are going around in circles goofing off just because you are not doing everything you need to do and you don’t follow the schedule you put out for yourself, you gradually become demotivated to follow the schedule and your set out routines and you start to doubt yourself.

And when you doubt yourself, you lose the self belief you have in your abilities and the next thing you know, you quit on what you wanted to do.

This is the essence of regret and it’s the worst feeling in the world.

Now on the flip side, when you are disciplined, you progressively start winning and gaining momentum.

This momentum motivates you to want to do more and you enjoy what you are doing since you can see success on the other side of all of your efforts.

As a result, you will continue what you are doing like you are on a mission to accomplish something.

And this spirit in you will be contagious in everything you do. You will notice that you put more of your heart into things. This will naturally translate itself into winning and invincibility over time.

Everyone will start to sense your greatness and they will ask you how you are doing it without you seeking their attention at all.

When you get attention without you even seeking it, that’s you know you are doing something right.

Why is this?

Because the results are doing the talking instead of your mouth. People are hungry for information that can get them ahead and they will do whatever they need to do to speak to the person having success since this person has the information they are craving.

You would want to give it to them, but if you don’t need to give away this information, don’t.

Why? Because it increases your value in the marketplace when you don’t give it. Plus you don’t give away your secrets.

And you just keep on winning and let the good times roll.

That’s in essence why you shouldn’t quit on what you want.

You will be happy and won’t feel regret at the end.

But without discipline, this is not possible and hence why discipline and success go hand in hand with each other.

This next tip will eat you up dearly if you are not disciplined:

7. You Won’t Know What You Are Doing With Your Life

7 Fast Things That Occur When You Are Not Disciplined

This is a punch in the gut.

Not knowing what you are doing in life is the worst feeling.

You are bound to lose every time you don’t have a clue as to what you are doing.

Just imagine going into a test without studying and reading the book.

Do you think that’s a recipe for success?

It’s like you are getting smashed with a pie full of bolts that pinch your eyes when it happens.

Don’t be that guy.

Instead, know all of the ins and outs of what you are doing and execute it every day. You will be better off than the guy picking his nose or sleeping and texting in class.

That’s for sure, ask some of my professors and my test scores compared to theirs.

If there is one takeaway from this post, let it be this:

Consistent discipline along with the correct strategy and execution breeds championships 100% of the time for anyone.

This applies to all situations and everything that you possibly do.

So practice discipline every day and I guarantee that you will be better off than 99% of the population who will never be disciplined enough to achieve greatness and get what they want in life.

Then pop open some champagne and celebrate when you get exactly what you want. You definitely deserve it at that point.
