4 Great Ways Tea Can Improve Your Health Starting Today

Do you want to know how tea can benefit your health starting today?

If so, read on because I am going to tell you how.

Relieves Throat Aggravation

Did you ever wonder if there was something that can help soothe your throat when you are sick with, say, a sore throat?

What if I told you that tea can soothe your throat to the point where it can recover relatively quickly?

Well, it’s possible.

Let me explain.

I remember when I was sick with an unwanted cold and my throat was REALLY bothering me.

I felt the need to cough often and it was really bothering me.

I tried medications and I tried many other things I can’t remember off the top of my head to relieve my cold.

Suddenly, I was introduced to a nice Chamomile Tea that sounded really pleasant.

It sounded like something that would not only relieve my mind but would also relieve my cold.

After that first sip, I couldn’t resist drinking more of it.

As I drank more and more tea in the coming days, I noticed that my cold started to gradually melt away and my throat started to feel better.

This was better than any medication I took to relieve my cold and cough.

I felt that this could be the solution to my problem.

And it was.

And not only did it solve my cold, but it makes for a nice evening snack combined with a delicious cinnamon biscotti.

What’s the point of this story you might ask?

Well, the point is to introduce to you the idea and reality that tea can help you relieve anything associated with a cold or other unwanted illness.

Let’s take a look at some studies that prove this point.

There are articles that point to tea rectifying the situation regarding respiratory infection.

For instance, this one article here shows that teas contain antioxidants, which are compounds that prevent oxidation from occurring, a chemical reaction that can damage your cells.

As a result of the different components of tea preventing cells from being damaged, your throat gradually repairs itself to the point where it can be fully functional.

This is why tea is extremely effective in resolving colds and sore throats.

This article from the University of Pennsylvania, which you can see here, indicates that multiple studies have been conducted to show that different teas are very effective in reducing inflammation and have numerous benefits as well like keeping your skin healthy and reducing muscle spasms.

These are good reasons to give tea a try when you are sick since not only does it reduce throat inflammation before your big presentation, but it can give you a surplus of other benefits as well.

So if you are looking for something that can help with throat aggravation, try drinking tea.

While you are at it, a spoon of honey will not do you any harm since it can also help you calm your throat as a result of having antibacterial properties that can help a throat heal quickly.

Plus, it tastes really good and it’s sweet.

Now here is another benefit of tea that’ll give you more reasons to drink it.

It Helps You Sleep Better

From personal experience, I’ve noticed that I have an easier time sleeping when I have a cup of tea before going to bed.

I don’t feel the need to twist and turn and have an “unsettling feeling” right before bed that can make me wake up.

Of course, you can drink water to go to sleep as well, but if you have a cold, considering the fact that drinking tea can help with respiratory infections, tea can be a better bet in this regard.

In fact, some research supports the claim that drinking tea helps you sleep better.

Let’s explore that a little, shall we?

According to one study, participants who drank chamomile tea for 28 days had less time awake in the evening and went to sleep 15 minutes faster than those who didn’t drink chamomile tea.

Another study proved that tea, particularly chamomile tea, has an antioxidant that helps you sleep better and also helps you eliminate the inability to sleep.

You can see this study here.

Sleeping is a critical need for survival and for performing your daily duties at work, at home, or in anything you can think of regarding your health.

Drinking tea is proven to help you get some much-needed rest after a long day at work, school, or getting the kids to bed.

As such, based on the research that’s out there, you should give tea a try if you are having trouble sleeping at night.

Personally, I go for chamomile tea because it is the one that tastes the best (personal opinion of course) and it is the one that I see that has benefits for sleeping better, which we can all do.

So I encourage you to get on Amazon and buy yourself some nice bags of Chamomile tea or any other tea that suits your fancy when it comes to winding down at night.

Your tomorrow self might thank you for the next day when you ace that presentation at work (or school)!

Less Caffeine

OK, this is a biggie because caffeine is actually a VERY dangerous drug.

Let me show you what I mean.

According to the FDA, caffeine is associated with numerous side effects that are extremely harmful to your day-to-day life.

These side effects consist of insomnia (which is REALLY bad for going to sleep), fast heart rate, upset stomach, headaches, and even feelings of unhappiness.

Considering the fact that you can easily become dependent on caffeine in a very short period of time, you can drink too much without realizing it and as a result, experience these symptoms even if you try to control yourself.

This is not good if you are trying to avoid things like insomnia.

With tea, particularly chamomile, ginger, and peppermint teas (aka the herbal teas), you don’t drink any caffeine at all and you experience all of the health benefits that go along with drinking tea.

Of course, some teas contain caffeine, but relative to coffee, the health benefits far outweigh those compared to coffee when talking about a drink that gets you going for the entire day and getting your body hydrated, and replacing fluids in your body when you are sweating.

Coffee can’t do the same thing for you and considering the negative side effects of caffeine, you might want to think twice about drinking a cup of joe in the morning and instead, settle for a nice cup of tea to not just go to sleep at night, but to keep going throughout the day.

Just more reasons to get bags of tea over coffee.

Improve Your Memory

According to a study from the Journal of Nutrition, Health and Aging, green tea helped the working memory of women in order to improve reading spans and memory recall.

This was after the researchers did a study that analyzed the effects of green tea over cornstarch where the women in the study were given either green tea or a cornstarch placebo in order to compare and contrast the memory levels of the two samples within the population.

The reason for this is that green tea contains an amino acid called I-theanine, which improves memory recall.

This is significant because a beverage like coffee has inconclusive evidence as to whether or not it actually helps improve working memory. The evidence is back and forth at best as you can see here.

These facts prove that drinking tea, particularly green tea, can help you improve your memory versus other beverages.

If you are someone who is studying in university and you want a drink that can help you improve your memory for tests, green tea is a good beverage to try.

It is simple to make, just like any other tea.

Just pour one cup of tap water into a measuring glass and heat the glass up for 2 minutes.

Then, pour the water into a cup that already has a tea bag and let it sit for 3-5 minutes.

After the time is up, put an ice cube in the glass and enjoy.

It’s that simple to make.

Additionally, there was another study done on black tea, where the researchers tested the effects of black tea on participants with regards to working memory and performance.

The results were that black tea helped participants improve their working memory in addition to increasing the rate of their cognitive performance and reducing the number of errors on tasks.

These are significant results since, in everyday life, we tend to make careless mistakes in many things and they can have a big impact on us in a multitude of ways.

The fact that black tea is shown to improve certain aspects of ourselves that help us avoid careless mistakes gives us strong evidence that black tea, like any other tea, is worth trying in order to help us in those regards in our daily life.

So above all, give tea a try one night. You might be pleasantly surprised by the results 🙂

And that does it for this post about how tea can help you become healthier and improve your life in many ways.
