The Truth Is That College Is a Game, Not Education. How to Quickly Use This to Your Advantage Starting Today

The Truth Is That College Is a Game, Not Education. How to Quickly Use This to Your Advantage Starting Today

Are you having a tough time in college?

If you’re not in college, have you thought about going to college?

Are you struggling with the “balance” aspect of college?

Do you want to know a secret truth that no one shares with you?

Here it is:

College is a game.

That’s right.

It is a competition just like any other with a scoreboard, a leaderboard, players, referees, etc.

College is 100% set up for you to compete against others.

And that is what it is.

It is not really an “education” that they market themselves as.

It is the game show that every student doesn’t even know that they are in!

It’s quite ironic isn’t it?

But, you know now and YOU are going to get the elusive advantages that every college student who doesn’t read this blog post will NOT have.

The foundation for mastering college.

Of course, what you do specifically will depend on your major and it will depend on your financial circumstances.

But this post will serve as the general blueprint for how to go about it in a way which will minimize your mistakes big time, boost your grades, and get you out of the slump that you might be in.

Let’s start with the big elephant in the room that is your professors.

Most Professors Are Just Bad; How To Deal With It

The Truth Is That College Is a Game, Not Education. How to Quickly Use This to Your Advantage Starting Today

Are most professors really bad?

Yes.

Are universities going to change this?

No.

Why not?

Because universities are a business, not non for profit institutions, who for the most part heavily depend on research.

The universities view undergraduate students as secondary customers that really do not need to be served just as much as PhD students.

Unless you are an athlete, the universities do not see any economic value in teaching students because they know that for a lot of careers, the students have to go through them no matter what the teaching quality is.

In essence, because they are a monopoly on those careers, then they feel that they don’t need to do anything really.

You can read more about it here.

And because of the nature of the business, that is not going to change.

So don’t count on your professor saving your butt.

The ways that you can deal with this are the following:

1)      Read your textbook (if it’s a good one) or great YouTube videos on the subject before going to class. They are really going to be your teachers.

2)      If you are still having trouble with the material, you can ask classmates, your Academic Success Center or your professor in their office hours (they will help there).

3)      If you are in computer science, I would strongly recommend to self-study the entire curriculum before you go to college for it. It will make everything easier when you get there. Believe me when I say this. If you try to learn everything in college, you will have a rough time getting through the curriculum.

And those are the only steps that you need to take to alleviate the issue. This will be the foundation of opening up the time to master the game of college in which I will elaborate about in this post.

You can get a head start on studying correctly here and here.

And the next step is extremely critical to getting jobs and internships, so stay tuned!

Why Extracurriculars Are There

The Truth Is That College Is a Game, Not Education. How to Quickly Use This to Your Advantage Starting Today

I am sure that you know what these are, but if you don’t, I’ll elaborate before I get in-depth here.

Extracurriculars activities are activities that students do outside of the classroom to build their careers.

This could be from being in a professional organization to intramural sports (yes, students use it to get jobs) to being in a fraternity, etc.

Students who are most successful at college tend to use these activities to get ahead in whatever they are trying to pursue and often, if they are successful in the execution, they land full time job offers through them.

Now I am going to explain why they are there from the employer’s perspective and how YOU can use them to position yourself as a strong candidate in your field.

The employers collectively agree that they want to create an environment in which they will identify the students who did the best at performing certain tasks I a short period of time that is reflective of their work culture.

In addition, they create these activities and these organizations to see who is the most dedicated student in the field.

So in essence, they are promoting a competition for their business.

And the universities secretly agree behind closed doors and not in print with the employers to do this because it drums up hype to go to college and it makes people believe that it’s a fun place and one with opportunity for those who seize it, which is true in a lot of cases.

But universities primarily do this as a business tactic.

The extracurricular activities are set up as fun because the industries behind these extracurricular activities want to prevent you from going elsewhere and to stay loyal to those professions.

They don’t want you to realize other opportunities out there.

So you have to keep this in mind that the they don’t care about you and that they art not there to be nice.

The extracurriculars are there for the universities and employers to make money and attract talent.

That’s it.

Read those 2 sentences again so that you fully comprehend this very important point.

Having said that, if you need to do extracurricular activities to get your foot into the door in the industry that you want to get into, then here’s what you should do:

1)      Know which activities that you need to do before going to college. If you are in college, then you should consult with an academic advisor or the center for student activities on what those activities should be.

2)      If academics don’t get in the way, do what you need to do to become the president of that organization.

3)      Don’t get involved in more than 2 activities. You want to maximize your résumé and not minimize it.

4)      If academics gets in the way, don’t do extracurriculars. This is why I don’t recommend student loans; you don’t know what’s going to happen.

Traditionally, your chances of getting a job go up if you participate in extracurriculars, but if you have to do that while compromising academics, don’t do it.

And if academics does get in the way entirely and you won’t get a job without extracurriculars, then reconsider whether college is a good investment for you.

You don’t want to be disappointed at graduation.

So don’t let that happen to you.

And the bottom line is that extracurriculars are a business decision to participate in. They need to help you in getting a job in your field. If they don’t help you, don’t participate in them.

Invest your time, don’t waste it.

Why They Don’t Teach You How to Play the University Game in Classrooms

The Truth Is That College Is a Game, Not Education. How to Quickly Use This to Your Advantage Starting Today

And now this post is going to come in full circle.

Let me break it to you in extremely simple terms for you.

The schools know that it’s a competition and if you let everyone in on the competition, then you are not going to create an environment for employers to identify the best candidates.

And that’s the reality.

Additionally, there is an additional form of education that exists out there that will allow you to see the benefits of things for yourself instead of just memorizing for the test.

This type of education is called self-education.

Let me explain how this works.

Self-education is the process of educating yourself without any formal school instruction on the principles of success and the things that you need to achieve your goals.

For instance, if you want to become wealthy, then you would pursue any education on becoming successful and then you would get what’s called specialized knowledge about what you need to know in order to obtain wealth.

Now let me say what college really is.

College is a form of specialized knowledge that is there for you to use to achieve a goal that requires it.

Say that you want to become a doctor for instance.

After going through mindset education, you would then identify your goal of becoming a doctor and pursue any other form of education that is relevant to achieving your goal.

In this case, college would help you achieve the goal along with further self-education like how to manipulate college to favorably position yourself to get into medical school.

And then you would take action on that desire and education.

And that’s the number one mistake of college students is that they don’t become educated before becoming “educated.”

They see college as the only form of education since that’s the only thing that they are familiar with.

And the colleges definitely know this.

They want to position themselves as the “authority” on education so that you don’t see that there is another form of education out there that you need to pursue to achieve your goals.

Their intent isn’t really to help you. Their intent is to get as much money as possible from you and just leave you as clueless as possible without getting anything much done.

And that’s how they trick people to going to graduate school because they get people to believe that graduate school will increase your odds for employment, which is only partially true depending on whether you researched the prospects of employment with the degree prior to enrolling.

They secretly hope that you don’t do that.

And that’s what you really need to understand before you go, or if you’re in college right now, what you need to understand to make the proper adjustments necessary.

That way, you’ll get the most out of it.

So if you haven’t enrolled in college yet and you are not sure about anything, then do this:

DON’T GO TO COLLEGE!

It is the worst thing that you can do for yourself.

Self-education comes first and then college if it aligns with your goal.

And don’t go into debt for it.

The fact that student loans are the only non-dischargeable debt that there is should make you REALLY question what they are doing.

College isn’t useless, but you NEED to handle it extremely carefully.

If incorrectly handled, it’s 100% a gamble.

The Truth Is That College Is a Game, Not Education. How to Quickly Use This to Your Advantage Starting Today

And that’s the truth.

If you are in high school and found this post, this is your lucky day because I am going to tell you how to avoid future problems that adults have to go through as a result of poor decision making with respect to college:

1)      Get a job and do side hustles NOW!

Explanation: You want to get enough cash so that when you move away from your parents, you can make your own decisions in life and not have to rely on someone else to tell you what to do for your livelihood.

Typically what happens is that the kids don’t work and they have to move out and because of the HIGH cost of living, they are left with two options:

  1. A) Go to college by whatever means even if they are uninformed about what to do
  2. B) Starve to death because they have no cash and they have to work just to pay the bills

You do NOT want to be there.

You want to be self-sufficient AND have work experience before you turn 18.

Information about side hustles can be read here.

2)      Start looking at what you want to do ASAP AND learn about business as well!

Explanation: You don’t want to have to do this in the real world where it is extremely expensive and you are vulnerable to the alligator that are bills up your behind every day.

That’s reckless.

Instead, start finding out about what you are interested and start developing those skills early so that you become more appealing to the market place later.

Additionally, you want to learn as much about business that you can right now because believe it or not, you as a person are a brand and you are a salesperson delivering a product to people.

And you need to know how to position yourself in the marketplace to deliver that value.

This is the secret of the so called “prodigies.”

They successfully did this and that’s why they are labeled like that.

I would suggest that you read this article here and watch this video here for further insight as to what you should do in deciding whether or not college is the right decision for you.

Just remember this, cash flow is king.

No cash flow = No power = No leverage.

Understand that very clearly.

If you understand all of your options and you have the skills before going into the real world AND you have cash ready to go before the rent is due AND a steady stream of income already, then you are in really good shape.

Just don’t waste money and learn how to invest it well and you are going to be just fine.

And know real estate.

In and out as much as you can before turning 18.

It’s reckless not to.

Start networking early with real estate investors and see what it’s like and read about how most of the wealth in this country was built with real estate.

You can get a head start on your education into that subject right here. It’s available on Amazon. Note: This is an affiliate link and if you buy from my link, I will receive a commission off of your purchase and the price that you pay won’t change.

If you are 16 or 17 and you haven’t worked yet and you have nothing, follow every step above and do not deviate from it.

If you are in college, here’s what you do:

  1. A) If you have loans, either find or create some cash source to pay them off or switch to a major that pays well.
  2. B) If you don’t have loans and you don’t know what you want to do and you are reliant upon your parents, stay in college, but start working on an escape route to get out of their house.
  3. C) If you are self-sufficient and in college, assess the decision and make the call for yourself friend.

And that’s what you have to do.

Good luck my friend and may the force be with you.
