How to Instantly Use Your Most Valuable Asset To Your Advantage In Life Starting Today

How to Instantly Use Your Most Valuable Asset To Your Advantage In Life Starting Today

Do you want to know what your most valuable asset in life is?

If you want the short answer, it’s this:

Your time.

If you want the long answer, read on to know why.

When you use your time on Earth, you have one thing that you must account for in everything that you do.

This one thing is:

Opportunity Cost

How to Instantly Use Your Most Valuable Asset To Your Advantage In Life Starting Today

Let me address something that is very important for you to understand:

The concept of “free” doesn’t exist.

Let me explain why.

Time is money. The amount of time you put into something will dictate your reward in the future.

Even if something is “free,” the thing you choose to do will pay you back to some degree.

Every option has different payouts. Whichever one you choose will give you a reward unique to that option.

I’ll give you an example to demonstrate this.

Let’s say that you are going to college without paying tuition.

In other words, someone else is footing the bill.

You have different majors to choose from.

For simplicity and to show you the extent of my point, you have boiled down your major choices to women’s studies and computer science.

I don’t think it takes a brain to realize that if you put an equal amount of time and effort into doing well in each major and doing what you need to do to get a job, you will have different results.

Let’s break this down as to why this is the case.

There is plenty of documentation stating that there is little to no demand for philosophy majors and hence, they get no jobs for philosophy majors and they lose out on money they could’ve made if they majored in computer science, where there are plenty of jobs (provided you do things correctly before and during college).

And because those with jobs earn money, they make the most out of their time in college and hence, receive a benefit that aligns with the cost they paid.

Hence, the concept of opportunity cost.

Are you seeing the concept of opportunity cost at work here?

Everything in life has a Return on Investment (ROI).

Your job as a person (for your own good) is to make sure that this ROI is as BIG as possible because the last thing you want to do is live life in regret.

Why?

Well, for 2 primary reasons:

  1. Because you know it already
  2. Because people want to take advantage of you

For this one, let’s set the record straight.

No one will take as good care of yourself and your money as anyone else.

Read it again so you can let that sink in for a moment.

People only care about themselves.

They will try (and justifiably so I must admit) to give you as little as possible and get the most out of you.

That’s why you MUST know what you or the asset you are looking at are worth and carefully scrutinize and dissect every offer people throw at you.

If you fail to do this, you will screw yourself over the possibility of earning and saving a lot more money than you could if you carefully examined what was being presented to you.

This is a common mistake of those who try to get jobs and fall for the employer’s first pitch when negotiating a job offer and this is another trip up for home buyers who tend to overpay for a home and do NOT examine the market to determine what they should be paying for the home.

This is crucial for you to understand, so I hope you are really paying attention to this.

Now let me give you an example of choosing between amusing things so you can REALLY see my point further.

Let’s say you have the option of spending the week going on a vacation or going to the mall every day and you can spend an equal amount of money on each option.

Of course, you might have different values on each of these activities that can affect making the most of your time, but let’s assume that you place more “fun” value on vacations.

If you choose to go to the mall, you will feel like you are not getting the most out of your time and that you wasted it in regret and hoping a dreaming “Man, I wish I would’ve gone on that vacation instead of coming here every day this week.”

Now let’s look at the scenario where you went on vacation.

You went on the European vacation you have always been dreaming about. You went to Venice and had a romantic boating excursion with your spouse or boy/girlfriend and you both had the most memorable kiss that you both would never forget.

You both also went to Paris, the Swiss Alps, Greece, the frigid northernmost part of Russia (just kidding), and the most romantic parts of Spain where you both ate the finest Spanish food on the planet riverside on a crisp, 65-degree evening with not a cloud in the sky.

After dinner, you both walk along a pier talking about life and how great the relationship is going and, yet again, you both have another kiss.

And here’s what happened before the kiss (you can probably predict what I’ll say):

If you are the guy, you knelt down to one knee and pulled out your beautiful proposal ring and you asked “Will you marry me?”

And she said “YES!”

And started crying like a happy little girl.

Not to say that marriage is a good thing for most people, but that was just to dramatize my point.

So now you look back at the 2 options and you are like “With an equal amount of time at my disposal, what am I going to do?”

Propose to her at the mall with thousands of bystanders?

Give me a break. That’ll make you lose her (just kidding).

In this case, your value is not the dollars, but in having the best time possible with the amount you could spend.

And this is what you need to know.

You can’t just dilly-dally with your time like it’s nothing because it’s NOT nothing.

It’s something.

It’s something that if misused, is the most taken-for-granted resource that you have.

Have you ever heard the saying “Don’t take things for granted?”

It exists for a reason.

Why does it exist?

Because it’s true.

With time, you must maximize, not minimize.

Should you be a minimalist in terms of buying only your necessities?

Absolutely.

But, being a minimalist in terms of harming your quality of life and throwing your time away like it’s nothing?

Give me a break. You know better.

But of course, you have to work like a freaking animal to do anything worthwhile.

Nobody gives anything for free and you must provide value to receive value in return.

But to pay for something and not get any value back?

HELL NO!

That’s not a fair deal.

And to people who don’t pay,

Well, to hell with them.

You have to understand, when people don’t do their job, they MUST be held accountable.

No accountability = No progress and wasted time.

Understand that really well.

It’s really the only way to manage people so your HARD-EARNED MONEY and your time aren’t wasted.

Now of course, don’t be a dick to people and harass them at first sight.

Be kind to them.

Just have that stick ready to protect yourself when need be.

And that is the essence of opportunity cost for you to know.

Just remember, nothing is for free.

Nothing.

Remember, in your eyes, you MUST view yourself as the most valuable asset in the world. Don’t trade it for something that will disappoint.
