Check Traffic and Get Up Early

This one is all about planning and organization.

The first thing that you must do for any successful day is to see the conditions of what’s around you and act accordingly.

So before you leave in the morning for work or whatever occasion, you should check the traffic on the local news or on the internet somehow.

This way, there are no unpleasant surprises when you walk out the door tomorrow morning (or Monday morning).

And here’s another tip for you:

Get up earlier.

Why?

Because you have more time.

More time to strategize and more time to plan for your day and more time to research anything that you must research to avoid that BIG jam in the morning.

And when you finish early, you can completely beat the traffic and have plenty of time to find parking AND get your morning latte 🙂

Now how does this apply to life beyond going to work?

In many ways.

Let me explain.

When you do your research in anything that you do, you can be prepared for what’s to come, whether that’s a meeting, a job interview, planning your next trip, etc.

You never want to go into anything without looking at all of the facts.

The facts are what governs everything that we do on this planet.

There is nothing that can be done to ignore them.

Working with these facts, you MUST make good choices that will get you out of trouble or catapult you into a new status that you haven’t dreamed of.

And to do that, you need to understand the value of your time more than anything else.

Now how do you use time to your advantage?

By understanding this very clearly:

Leave Early

That’s right!

You should leave early!

Why?

Because this is your best bet in getting rid of most of the traffic altogether.

Everybody loves to hit the snooze button and everybody loves to wake up late.

That’s why they get stuck in rush hour in the morning and honk at each other like crazy.

When everybody goes at the same time, there is a huge crowd waiting to get in.

And when there’s a huge crowd, you know what that means:

Long lines, 3 hour waits at Disney for Soarin’ (actually 5 hours, but that’s a story for another day), you can’t see anything at the concert, no parking, etc.

In other words, reality is going to create the circumstances instead of YOU creating the reality.

Which one would you want to do?

I’m pretty damn confident it’s the last one.

When you leave early, you have no traffic.

Hence, you can go as fast as you want on the highway.

I want you to see the speed density graph in this article here and notice something particularly eye opening.

Speed is simply how fast you are going on the road. Density is the volume of vehicles on a road.

When density increases, speed drops.

In other words, if there are more cars, the speed that you can travel drops.

So when there are more people in a location, the less that you can travel in that location.

And when the traffic reaches jam density (the max density possible), you can’t move!

And this occurs later in the day.

So what do you do?

You leave early to get on the fast track!

And that graph proves it!

That was pretty incredible to see physically wasn’t it?

Now this applies beyond traffic.

It applies to any opportunity in life and any situation that you are in where you need to take swift action to accomplish something like getting to work on time.

The facts tell the story, so you must act accordingly!

Now what if the route that you want to take is already crowded?

Do this!

Take a Different Route

Sometimes, you just need to go outside of the box to do what you need to do.

That might mean taking the side streets when everyone is going on the highway.

A lot of times, people miss these options. As a result, they miss out on the opportunity to achieve exceptional results with their time.

Have you ever seen someone who just seems to have everything figured out and gets these crazy results while everyone else is struggling to achieve anything?

One reason for this is that the person achieving exceptional results figured out a way to do things better that didn’t involve doing what everyone else is doing.

In the case of getting out of traffic and getting to work on time, that person, more often than not, figured out a different route to take that no one was looking at. Maybe it was a neighborhood street, a hidden roadway, etc.

Regardless of what it was, that person figured it out and avoided traffic as a result.

Now let this be a lesson for you to reflect on in whatever you are doing in life, not just traffic.

You should think of another route if the one that you are on isn’t working.

It is your only hope in finding a solution.

Einstein once said that if you try the same thing and expect a different result, you are insane.

Speaking of which, let me give you some ideas as to what different routes to take when the route that you are on isn’t working.

Consider a Different Mode of Transportation

I don’t know if you have ever thought of this, but depending on your area, you can take the bus, a bike or the train to work instead of the car.

A lot of times, these modes of transportation can get you out of traffic and it can expedite your commute to work.

If you don’t believe me, let me show you a statistic that will blow your mind.

According to a 2016 census study from the American Community Survey, 85% of US citizens who commute to work depend on automobiles to get to their job.

So that means 17 out of 20 people are going to work in a vehicle.

That’s astounding.

And that goes to show why there is traffic on the roads each day. There is simply too much people going in the car.

In essence, you NEED to find a different way to get to work if you want to avoid traffic altogether.

If this applies to you, take all of this information into consideration the next time that you go to work. You might just thank yourself for doing it.

And if you are trying to apply this to any area of your life aside from going to work every day, please note that you must look at the different options available to you and you must go outside of the box when necessary or you will not solve the problem that you have.

This is what’s known as lateral thinking. You are thinking of solutions that are not directly related to your problem, but might be the answers that you are looking for.

Lateral thinking is the secret of any genius on this planet.

Take the Express Lane

This is when you get on the highway and you pay a toll to go on a specific part on the highway with no traffic and you can bypass all of the other traffic as a result.

This is obviously extremely useful if you have some extra cash to spare and you don’t want to get stuck in traffic.

Do you want to be stuck in traffic and risk running late and potentially losing your job or do you want to pay what seems to be a higher price now, but will more than pay itself back for you in the future and eliminate a hefty opportunity cost down the line?

Something to think about, but you have to admit, when value exceeds the price, price is no longer an issue.

Pay for the express lane if you need to and save yourself a lot of time and money.

Quality isn’t cheap, but being late is not cheaper!

And now for a unique and special route that might be available for your lovely convenience.

Get Your Own Helicopter

I know, I know, you are screaming “I can’t afford this” which is true, but I want you to do several things here.

First, I want you to think where you are in your life right now and where you want to be.

Is there anything that is stopping you from getting to that place right now or is there something that you could cut from your routine that isn’t productive and replace it with something that is productive?

For instance, can you cut your TV or night out and redirect your time and energy to perhaps building a business or learning a new skill that you’ve always wanted to learn (or need to learn)?

This might be your ticket to getting out of traffic once and for all and to afford the things that you have always wanted to do.

A lot of times, when you say ‘I don’t have enough time,” it’s an excuse to keep doing those unproductive things that you might be doing.

Now, should you not have time for watching TV if it isn’t for something critical like a hurricane update?

Yes. That doesn’t generate a positive ROI.

But for the productive things, of course you have time for them. You are just wasting a lot of your time on useless stuff.

Don’t do that to yourself and redirect it to what you REALLY want and you might just get that helicopter if you really want to.
